2026 CIFTIS Concludes Successfully

On September 13, the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) drew to a successful close. At the closing press conference held on the same day, Zhu Guangyao, Level-2 Inspector of the Department of Trade in Services and Commercial Services, Ministry of Commerce, briefed on the outcomes of the 2026 CIFTIS and follow-up work plans. Lu Huiling, Member of the Party Leadership Group, Deputy Director-General and Spokesperson of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, introduced the overall picture and highlights of the Fair. The press conference was moderated by Ye Chang, Director of the Foreign News Division, Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.



As the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, this edition of CIFTIS continued to uphold the vision of **Global Services, Shared Prosperity**. Aligned with the needs for capacity expansion and quality upgrading of the service industry, it adhered to the exhibition principles of professionalism, internationalization, distinctive features and market orientation. A total of 200 forums, conferences, matchmaking and promotion events were held. A thematic exhibition and nine special exhibitions were elaborately staged, attracting over 1,830 enterprises for on-site participation and more than 5,300 enterprises for online exhibition.


The five-day Fair saw unprecedented popularity at the "Exhibition Town" in Shougang Park. As of 12:00 noon on the closing day, nearly 420,000 visits were recorded in the core event zone of CIFTIS, representing a year-on-year increase of 36.6%. Shougang Park received around 810,000 visitors in total, up roughly 20% year on year. The platform’s functions for expanding opening-up, deepening cooperation and spearheading innovation have been steadily enhanced, with its international influence continuously rising.


Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the Global Trade in Services Summit and delivered a keynote address. He put forward three proposals: boosting trade in services to new heights through high-quality development of the service sector, exploring new room for the growth of trade in services via inclusive and joint progress, and fostering new growth drivers for trade in services empowered by digital and intelligent technologies. His remarks injected fresh momentum into vigorously developing trade in services and advancing opening-up and cooperation in the service industry.


Yin Li, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, attended the Summit and delivered a speech. Heads of state and government, international organization representatives including President Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga of Zimbabwe, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov of Bulgaria, Isabelle Durant, Acting Secretary-General of UNCTAD, Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO, Angela Ellard, Deputy Director-General of WTO, and Hong Pui Ching, President of International Business, Standard Chartered Group, delivered remarks either in person or via video link. They fully recognized CIFTIS’s vital role in advancing global economic cooperation.


For the first time, the Global Trade in Services Summit was co-hosted by two international organizations — UNCTAD and WIPO — together with the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality and the Ministry of Commerce. Approximately 800 guests from nearly 40 countries and regions attended on site. All parties spoke highly of China’s achievements in developing trade in services, acknowledging that China’s development brings new opportunities to the world. Multiple countries extended invitations to deepen investment cooperation for mutual benefit and common prosperity.


Leading enterprises maintained a strong presence. A total of 473 Fortune Global 500 firms and industry leaders took part offline, accounting for nearly 26% of all offline exhibitors; 320 enterprises featured on industry rankings also participated. Exhibits covered cutting-edge sectors such as digital-intelligent production, cell therapy, tech finance and green new infrastructure, as well as hot areas including cross-border logistics, cultural exports, event economy and two-way student exchanges.


**"China’s Services" has emerged as a shining brand.** The inaugural China Services Case Exhibition showcased 140 cases including UltraCarbon-1 and Zhuque-3, fully demonstrating the prowess of Chinese service brands. It drew 26 delegations of industry organizations and corporate representatives from home and abroad, and received extensive coverage from media outlets such as CCTV Finance and CNR.


The Offshore Services Promotion Roadshow Area exceeded expectations. Across 40 promotion and roadshow sessions, sessions including the cultural showcase and ASEAN special sessions were extended by more than 30 minutes upon audience request. Suppliers and demand-side enterprises held on-site business matching, and many firms have reserved spots to join the roadshows at the next CIFTIS.


Frontier insights were exchanged in depth. International organizations hosted 22 forums, conferences and matchmaking events, four more than the previous edition. Nearly 200 guests including heads of international organizations, vice-ministerial-level officials from China and overseas, academicians and senior executives of multinational corporations engaged in in-depth discussions on building a new framework of mutual benefit and win-win results, cross-sector collaboration in services, integration of digital and real economy, service consumption and green and low-carbon transition, offering intellectual support and practical pathways for the development of trade in services.


Authoritative reports were released in a concentrated manner. Institutions including the Ministry of Commerce and the Development Research Center of the State Council unveiled landmark publications such as the Report on China’s Development of Trade in Services and the Report on Digital Trade Development and Cooperation. The Global Alliance of Trade in Services and the World Tourism Cities Federation released standard systems including the evaluation framework for the digital and intelligent development index of trade in services and ISO scoring rules for tourism cities. Beijing also rolled out the Implementation Plan for Expanding Capacity and Improving Quality of the Service Industry, the Beijing Overseas Comprehensive Service Platform and the English-language smart cultural tourism platform *Visit China · Beijing*. These outputs provide full-chain support for high-quality development of trade in services, ranging from policy references to on-the-ground implementation.


Groundbreaking innovations made their global debuts. 103 enterprises and institutions released 233 outcomes, including 119 new product launches, 35 authoritative releases, 22 major projects, 43 outstanding cases and 14 professional rankings. Fortune Global 500 companies and renowned multinationals unveiled new developments in artificial intelligence, green low-carbon technologies, healthcare and fintech. UNCTAD released the report *Measuring Servitization and the Impacts of Trade in Services and Policies*. The **2026 Top 100 Global Trade in Services Brand Value Report** made its world exclusive debut, featuring the Top 100 list as the main ranking with in-depth analysis across eight thematic categories, drawing 5,940 citations at home and abroad.


Multiple measures unlocked massive business opportunities. Altogether 134 promotion and matchmaking events were organized, nearly 80% more year on year. 74 central SOEs, 16 central financial enterprises and industry associations sent delegations for on-site negotiations. A total of 2,640 supply-demand briefs were published, attracting around 116,000 professional registered visitors, up 3.7% from last year, delivering tangible cooperation opportunities for enterprises.


Multi-dimensional measures facilitated efficient business talks. The business appointment platform was upgraded to improve offline matching efficiency from four dimensions: communication timeliness, appointment flexibility, exhibitor experience and closed-loop full-process services. The platform recorded 1,425 user sessions during the Fair, with 845 pairs successfully scheduling meetings and negotiations.


Fruitful results were achieved across multiple sectors. The Norway Pavilion, Guest Country of Honor, signed six cooperation agreements with Chinese enterprises and institutions. At the *Invest in Beijing* themed promotion event, 36 key projects covering 12 industrial sectors including sci-tech innovation, smart manufacturing and modern services were signed on site. The Fair generated more than 1,200 outcomes in seven categories, effectively advancing resource matching and exchanges.


Expanded venue space and innovative events amplified spillover effects. A total of 81 supporting activities were arranged, an increase of 80% over the previous session. Leveraging unique venues in Shougang Park, 37 events were held such as the *Encounter Guangxi* cultural tourism show and bazaar, *Future Has Arrived: Zhejiang XR Extreme Challenge*, and the Creator Park. Linking the waterfront space of "Two Parks and One River" and key commercial districts in Beijing, another 44 activities including the Yongding River Art Season, *Haidian Night* and *Charming Chaoyang Night* were rolled out. Thirteen study tour routes were arranged to deliver professional economic and trade exchanges and public cultural experiences across the whole region.


Local features and integrated business formats stimulated service consumption. Ten provincial-level regions including Guangxi, the Guest Province of Honor, hosted cultural tourism performances and food tastings, integrating local characteristic industries into consumption scenarios. Through dining, shopping, sightseeing and appreciation, they showcased intangible cultural heritage and local folk customs. Creative signature events including the Industrial Comedy Week and Digital-Intelligent Sports Open were organized to energize service consumption with high-quality, diversified experiences.


The public opening day extended closing time by one hour to accommodate large visitor flows and better meet viewing demands. Exhibition order management was strengthened, with strict crackdowns on unauthorized scalpers and illegal live-streaming sales, creating a more standardized and orderly atmosphere. Passenger pick-up and drop-off points were scientifically designated, and the scheduling and routing of shuttle carts regulated to further boost accessibility within the Exhibition Town. Guest reception was professional and orderly, serving 209 visiting delegations in total. Catering capacity was enhanced, with nearly 13,000 dining seats available in and around Shougang Park, up almost 20% from last year. The core zone of Shougang Park logged over 10,000 food orders daily on average.


Nearly 3,500 journalists from 380 media outlets at home and abroad registered for coverage. Over 333,000 domestic news reports and more than 9,000 overseas reports were published during the event, both hitting all-time highs. The public kept close attention to CIFTIS’s innovative displays and international platform. Keywords such as *China’s Services*, *Offshore Services*, *New Product Debut*, and *Two-Way Endeavor* became hot search topics. Multiple hashtags including #Snapshot of 2026 CIFTIS# trended online.
